Is coverage through the Marketplace still available?

At this time, there is no change to people’s ability to enroll in coverage and get subsidies for 2019 health plans. Consumers who have experienced a life event like getting married or divorced, having a baby or adopting, or gaining U.S. citizenship, among others, can get covered within 60 days of the event through a Special Enrollment Period.

In addition, open enrollment for 2019 plans starts soon on Nov. 1 and runs through Dec. 15, 2018.

If a consumer does not have health insurance, they may be subject to a financial penalty when filing their federal income taxes. There are some exceptions however, such as individuals in the following situations.

CoverKC Coalition members throughout the region remain dedicated to ensuring consumers have access to accurate information about their Marketplace coverage options and financial help they may qualify for.
